An Atmosphere Novel
The Literary Award of the Pont Royal, 2020 edition, has been awarded to : Emmanuel Ruben for his novel Sabre, published by Stock.
Atmosphere: The word signs the Travel Book Award, Pont Royal Literary Award*****.
Long renowned for being one of the high places of Arts and Letters, the Pont Royal Hotel***** revives its tradition and revives the legend of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Its walls reveal the reflection of an era marked by the figures of Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir, the antics of the Hussards dear to Antoine Blondin, the jazzy impulses of Boris Vian's band. André Malraux had made the cocktail bar - one of the first in Paris - his home base between two trips... Jacques Prévert, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, François Mauriac, Raymond Queneau... it is difficult to name all the writers who have frequented this place.
By awarding this prize with a strong character, the Pont Royal Hotel ***** wished to revive this spirit and revive this prestigious literary past.
In 1750, the house welcomed many authors in residence, such as Chateaubriand!
Around Bertrand de Saint-Vincent, deputy director of the Figaro editorial office, the Jury had to distinguish novels and stories of French expression published in the fall of 2020. Atmospheric" texts, therefore.
Two examples among a hundred others: If Georges Perec addressed us, a few years ago, "kisses from everywhere", Xavier de Maistre - already confined in his time - delivered a singular "Journey around my room" by way of an "immobile" escape, but with a guaranteed atmosphere... This is to say that the journey is within the reach of a creative imagination.
